Miami Valley Climate Action
Miami Valley Climate Action Planning Overview
Miami Valley’s changing climate presents many challenges for the health of our communities, environment, and economy. Working together to reduce climate pollution and enhance natural areas, we can prevent future impacts and ensure the region is a more resilient, equitable, and thriving home for future generations.

With funding from the Inflation Reduction Act through the US Environmental Protection Act’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant, the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission (MVRPC) will develop a climate action plan for Miami Valley. This plan will connect and uplift existing state, regional, and local plans while preparing communities to be competitive for $4.6 billion in implementation grant funding for the policies and programs it identifies.

With this plan, MVRPC will engage regional stakeholders to collaboratively:

-
Develop and prioritize measures to reduce climate pollution and enhance natural areas that capture carbon;
-
Perform extensive outreach, community engagement, and cross-sector coordination;
-
Ensure that this effort considers and benefits the region with a focus on equity and environmental justice, and
-
Present technical analysis with easy to understand, transparent data.

Let’s shape a sustainable future together!
The decisions we make today shape the future for us and the generations to come. Miami Valley is creating a carbon pollution reduction plan as part of the new climate law, which climate researchers say will cause a 40% reduction in toxic air and carbon pollution within the next ten years.
We need your help to implement solutions, and here, you can find a set of alternatives in your community to implement.
